Committees

CCISD believes parents, community and school have a shared responsibility for the education of youth. To support this belief, the District invites parents, staff, students and the community into the decision-making process by way of several committees with distinct charters.

As indicated below, some committees are continuously active, while others are convened in response to seasonal District needs, and still others are convened ad hoc, for a specific one-time purpose and scope.

District Education Improvement Committee

The District Education Improvement Committee (DEIC) serves in an advisory capacity to the Superintendent in the areas of planning, budgeting, curriculum, staffing patterns, professional learning and school organization.

Instructional Materials Committee

The Instructional Materials Committee is responsible for reviewing resources and materials sourced from the Texas Education Agency to support the district’s curriculum. The final recommendations will be submitted for approval by the Board of Trustees.

In the context of Proclamation 2024, each subcommittee is tasked with reviewing all materials associated with the specified courses or content outlined by the Texas Education Agency's list of instructional materials that have undergone the State Board of Education review process. To guide this review, the subcommittee employs a rubric for each publisher, ensuring alignment with the needs of our district's students and staff.

CCISD sought parents and community members to serve on Subject Area Subcommittees (SAS) that helped select instructional materials, textbooks, and digital resources for the following subjects:

  • Elementary Science - Kindergarten through 5th Grade
